Christmas overload

Monday, December 25th, 2006

Another Christmas has come and gone. Tomorrow starts the annual ritual of deciding which toys will go to storage in order to make room for the new toys. Space, in the case of Gareth’s room, is finite.

Gareth had a great Christmas. His favorite toys were his Leapster TV game system, his Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and his Bumper Buggie.

Gare got me a wonderful kit for our bike. It has a water bottle, portable pump, bike computer, rope lock, and an allen wrench/screwdriver tool. It was the gift that had the most emotional impact with me since it showed me how excited Gareth is to get out and ride. The bike should be here by the end of the month!

Brandy and Gare are taking a much needed day off tomorrow to relax and play. The Leapster is going to get a work-out.

The Wiggles

Tuesday, December 12th, 2006

No, not the Australians (we’ll miss you yellow shirt dude), the teeth! Gareth’s second front bottom tooth has begun to wiggle. Shouldn’t be too long now before he loses it and gives Brandy her long awaited excuse to break out into rousing choruses of “All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth”.

Gareth has recently discovered that if he stays up late at night, he can get more play time in and annoy his parents. On the flip side, however, he has been sleeping in until almost 6AM, a marked improvement over his usual 4:30AM. You win some, you lose some.

Gareth turns 5

Monday, December 4th, 2006

December 3rd marked Gareth’s 5th birthday. He and his friends had a great time bowling and opening presents at his party on Saturday, followed by Gareth getting presents from us on Sunday morning and from his grandparents Sunday evening.

Basically, it was an entire birthday weekend for the kid. No wonder he couldn’t get to sleep last night. There were too many new toys with which to play!

Brandy and I took a moment to reflect upon the last 5 years. When Gareth was born, we honestly had no clue whether or not he’d survive to see his 5th birthday, but here he is, happy and healthy. By the time we get to his 10th, this blog will consist mostly of “oh my aching back” posts.
