One more tooth is gone! This one came out in the dead of night - we found it in his bed this morning. Yeah, that’s not good. If we don’t control the extraction, there’s no telling where that tooth might end up since Gareth isn’t so great at controlling the swallowing thing. Whatever, it’s out. One more loose tooth left.

We attended a faux Beatles concert tonight. Gareth enjoyed it up until about 8PM when his exhaustion overpowered his ability to appreciate cover bands. He perked up for the encore of Twist and Shout as, apparently, he and Brandy sing it often in the van.

Some of you might know that Gareth was featured in this year’s United Way promotional video. Chances are, though, that you haven’t seen it. Here’s your chance (Gareth’s segment is from the 2:00 to 3:00 minute mark):

Another tooth ... gone

One of Gareth’s perpetually loose teeth is now out and in the hands of the Tooth Fairy. Gareth and I were wrestling him up into position onto my shoulders when somebody said, “His mouth is bleeding!” I thought he maybe cut his lip as he bumped his chin off my head, but no, the jolt knocked the tooth the rest of the way loose.

Did I mention this happened while we were away camping for the weekend? Yeah. Somehow, the Tooth Fairy managed to find us out in Hammersley Fork, so no trouble there. Gareth is now $1 richer.

All was well once we removed the tooth and cleaned up the blood (which reminds me, I need to wash my hat). The rest of the weekend was relatively uneventful and completely relaxed.

And a month flies by

On the rocks

With all that goes on in our lives, it’s sometimes easy to forgot for upwards of a month that this blog is here. For example, the past month.

So what has been happening since the last entry? Gareth got over his pneumonia and was back to his old self within a week of the last update. No illnesses since then.

Gare has also gained a pair of friends in the form of Devin and Trevor, the children of an old friend of ours from our high school days. The three have engaged in sword fights, castle attacks, and just a touch of movie viewing. At some point, we’ll get everybody together for a bike ride.

Remember the loose tooth fiasco? Yeah, well, now it’s upon us times three. Gare has a few wiggly teeth in his head now, and Brandy is hoping somebody with good upper body strength and a pair of pliers will rid her of these dental menaces. Actually, she’s just freaked still because she’s worried they’ll bump out in the night and end up lodged somewhere from which we can’t retrieve them … like Gare’s trachea.

A recent visit to Gareth’s doctor has resulted in the directive to fatten him up. She has decreed that he needs to gain more weight, so it’s time to pour more Pediasure into his gut and increase the amount of supplementary water that we squirt him.

Oh, and getting back to mother/son relations, Gareth and Brandy now have to go a few days a week where they don’t see each other all day. Gareth’s teacher feels (rightly so) that Gareth needs to get used to Brandy not being there with him every day before he heads off to kindergarten where the transition wouldn’t be so controlled. This week was the beginning of the embargo, which will be continued until Gareth leaves Easter Seals.

If you haven’t been hanging out on A Bike For Gareth, you might have missed that Gare and I rode his bike in a local Fourth of July parade. Head over there for more info. We also recently camped at Parker Dam State Park where we rode our bikes and enjoyed splashing and swimming at their small beach.

Wow, a lot can build up in a month.
